Enhancing Student Experience
New Student Accommodation now available for UoM Students
Located right on the Parkville campus, the new 648-bed Student Village Melbourne (SVM) is now available for University of Melbourne students, opening on January 2016.
Built in partnership with Campus Living Villages (CLV), SVM demonstrates the University's long-term commitment to significantly increase quality student accommodation, on and around the campus. SVM supports the delivery of Growing Esteem's strategic priority of enhancing student experience and is a key component of the Student Accommodation Program.
Students can live and work close to the classroom. The University believes a vibrant campus enhances student experience, which is as much social and personal as educational.
SVM has also been awarded 5 green star rating, which demonstrates the University's commitment to environmentally sustainable best practice and reducing its environmental footprint as articulated in Growing Esteem.
SVM will offer extensive common room spaces, ground level retail outlets, secure access and staff support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Boasting a heated swimming pool, BBQ area, gymnasium, music practice rooms, a sizeable recreational room with pool table, communal kitchen as well as multi-level study spaces., students will also benefit from recreational and social activities and community building as part of the Residential Life program.
SVM is the first project to deliver the University's student accommodation strategy to provide 6,000 quality, affiliated accommodation places by 2020. The facility complements the existing high quality college accommodation available to students.
