University-approved accommodation

If you choose to live in University-approved accommodation, you will need your accommodation and welfare arrangements approved by the University.

Options for University-approved accommodation are:

If you choose pre-approved or alternative accommodation you are required to register with the Under 18 International Student Supervision Program. The Program ensures that your accommodation and welfare is appropriate, and provides support and encouragement until you turn 18.

Once the University has approved your accommodation and welfare arrangements, you will be issued with your Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) and Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). You will be able to apply for your student visa once you have your CAAW and CoE.


Pre-approved accommodation

You can choose from the following list of University-approved accommodation providers.

Each of these has been assessed and meets the requirements of the University for international students under 18 years of age. Specific lease agreement details and fees will vary between providers.

  • Pre-approved accommodation application process

    To apply for pre-approved accommodation:

    1. Apply directly to the accommodation provider. The accommodation must be available from or before your arrival date.
    2. Receive an accommodation confirmation letter.

    Once you have received your accomodation confirmation letter, you are required to register with the Under 18 International Student Supervision Program. The Program ensures your welfare and provides support and encouragement until you turn 18.

    To apply:

    1. Complete and submit the pre-approved accommodation form. You need to include a copy of your parent’s ID (passport or drivers licence showing name, photo and signature) and your accommodation confirmation letter.
    2. Pay the administration fee and weekly fee for the Under 18 International Student Supervision Program. Use the fee calculator to determine your indicative fees.
    3. The University will contact you once your application has been assessed. If approved, you will receive your Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) with your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), so you can apply for your student visa.

Alternative accommodation

You may choose to live in a homestay arrangement or in another student-only accommodation provider.

The University must inspect and approve your intended accommodation based on the following conditions:

  • A parent (or a student’s legal guardian) must approve the proposed arrangements.
  • There is a responsible adult aged 21 years or over living in the household.
  • All adults living in the household hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • The proposed housing is located within a reasonable distance of campus, i.e. travel time to campus is not likely to exceed 35-40 minutes and the student can travel safely between campus and the proposed housing location.
  • Alternative accommodation application process

    You need to arrange your own alternative accomodation. The accommodation must be available from or before your arrival date.

    Once you've arranged your alternative accomodation, you are required to register with the Under 18 International Student Supervision Program. The Program ensures your welfare and accommodation is appropriate. It also provides support and encouragement until you turn 18.

    To apply:

    1. Complete and submit the alternative accommodation form, including a copy of your parent’s ID (passport or drivers licence showing name, photo and signature). The University will then contact the homestay host or accommodation provider to arrange an accommodation inspection.
    2. Pay the administration fee and weekly fee for the Under 18 International Student Supervision Program. Use the fee calculator to determine your indicative fees.
    3. The University will contact you once your application has been assessed. If approved, you will receive the Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) with your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), so you can apply for your student visa.

University residential colleges

Living in a residential college allows you to engage with students from a variety of countries and study disciplines. You will have a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic University community.

Residential colleges vary in size and location, and each college has its own unique culture and traditions. It is important to research your options and apply for the college that is the right fit for you.

Once you have been offered a place in a residential college, you will need to seek approval from the University to be issued with your Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) and Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

    To apply for a university residential college:

    1. Apply directly to the residential college of your choice. The accommodation must be available from or before your arrival date.
    2. Receive an accommodation confirmation letter.

    Once you have received your accomodation confirmation letter, you are required to apply for Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW).

    1. Complete and submit the University residential college form. You need to include a copy of your parent’s I.D. (passport or drivers licence showing name, photo and signature) and your accommodation confirmation letter.
    2. The University will contact you once your application has been assessed. If approved, you will receive your Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) with your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) so you can apply for your student visa.
