Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

The University arranges your OSHC for the duration of your course. You will receive an OSHC card when you arrive in Melbourne. if your OSHC expires earlier than your award end date, contact an AusAID Student Contact Officer.

It is important to inform OSHC Worldcare, the overseas student health cover provider, of your current address details. You can update your details on the OSHC Worldcare website.

Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE)

The CLE is paid in arrears on the University's scheduled paydate every fortnight. It is paid into your nominated bank account. If you change your bank account, contact an AusAID Student Contact Officer.

The CLE ceases five days after examination results are officially published for coursework students. For research students this is up to five days after the submission of your thesis.

Tourist visa

Any relatives who plan to visit for a short time while you are studying in Australia will need to apply for a tourist visa. A supporting letter is not required by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). However, you will be requested for a letter of invitation, written by you, inviting your family to visit. Refer to this sample invitation letter.
