Getting involved
While studying is your main purpose here, getting involved in the University and the community is a great way to enhance your experience in Melbourne, develop new skills and widen your circle of friends.
The Student Union provides all students with cultural events, representation and support. All students have access to facilities in Union House.
Melbourne University Overseas Student Service (MUOSS) is part of the Student Union and represents international students studying at the University. MUOSS also organises a range of activities throughout the year.
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is the student representative body for graduate students at the University. Get involved directly with the Association or a graduate group.
Melbourne University Sport provides a range of sporting and fitness facilities, and also runs fitness programs and other activities.
Student clubs and associations
Join student union clubs or societies to meet people who share similar interests — there are a wide range of clubs including special interest, cultural and faculty-based clubs.
Sports clubs are coordinated by Melbourne University Sport.
Graduate groups are coordinated by the Graduate Student Association (GSA).
Volunteer with International Student Services (ISS)
Each semester, we train volunteers and student mentors to assist us with various events. Both local and international students are very welcome to be a part of our events. Volunteering helps you develop teamwork and communication skills. You get to meet people from around the world, form friendships and share your experiences with others.
Student volunteers and mentors are an integral part of the ISS team. Together, we help enrich the Melbourne Experience for new international students and their families.

Leadership, Involvement and Volunteer Experience (LIVE)
Hosting a range of programs and resources, LIVE is an organising platform providing students with unique opportunities to get involved both on and off campus in leadership, community engagement and volunteering activities, locally and globally. Learn more about LIVE
