Scholarship Variations
If you make a change to your enrolment, such as enrolling in a concurrent diploma or taking a Leave of Absence from your course, then this variation will affect your scholarship.
Before applying for a variation to your scholarship, please read your offer letter and the Terms and Conditions of your scholarship to clarify if your scholarship allows for the variation. Your scholarship offer letter specifies the duration of your scholarship.
Once you have confirmed that your scholarship will allow for the variation, please send an application email to scholarships-administration@unimelb.edu.au with the required information detailed below. The email must come from your UoM student email account. We cannot process emails from any other email account.

Part-Time Enrolment
All Melbourne Scholarships are awarded on the basis that you maintain a full time enrolment for the duration of your scholarship. Your scholarship offer letter specifies the duration of your scholarship.
Please note, students in receipt of an International Undergraduate Fee Remission Scholarship are not eligible.
You may only apply to hold your scholarship while enrolled part time if you have a socially compelling reason such as a long term medical condition. Employment is not a valid reason. Please note, according to the Australian Taxation Office, scholarships are only tax-exempt for students who are enrolled full-time. Scholarships held by students who are enrolled on a part-time basis are not tax exempt.
You must submit a Tax File Number Declaration form and supporting documentation together with your application. If you are approved to retain your scholarship while enrolled part time, the University is required to withhold PAYG tax from the scholarship payment at your marginal tax rate or as required by the tax declaration form. Tax declaration forms can be obtained from the ATO, selected newsagents or Melbourne Scholarships.

Transfer to a New Course
Please note, students in receipt of an International Undergraduate Fee Remission Scholarship are not eligible.
You may be permitted to transfer your scholarship to another course at the University of Melbourne providing that you remain eligible. Normally approval will be given if the new course is at the same level as the original course, and students enrolled in the new course also would be eligible for the scholarship concerned.
Transferring to a new course does not constitute grounds to extend the duration of your scholarship. The duration of your scholarship is the normal duration of your new course if you undertake a full study load. Calculation of the expired duration of your scholarship will take into account the component of the original course you have already undertaken.
