Research Communication application

Academic Communication for ESL Graduate Researchers is a program that supports ESL/EAL research students in the early stage of their thesis writing.

This 8-week program will help develop your written and spoken academic communication skills, focusing on:

  • - writing clearly to communicate your research
  • - sequencing information clearly and cohesively at the section, paragraph and sentence-level
  • - using an authoritative writer's voice to respond to others' research and make strong knowledge claims for your own work
  • - developing your ability to discuss your research in a variety of settings
  • - speaking more confidently with peers, colleagues & supervisors
  • - advancing your peer- and self-editing skills

Numbers are limited.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

To join this program, you must:

  • > be a PhD, Dr or MPhil candidate
  • > be approaching or just past your confirmation,  i.e. for a full-time PhD candidature at the end of Year One or at the beginning of Year Two of your candidature
  • > have completed some writing related to your research (preferably the Introduction and Lit Review sections, as a minimum). This is essential!
  • > attend all sessions.
